Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance on earth and paved roads, signage fabrication and installation, bridgemaintenance, construction and maintenance of storm drainage systems. Services are provided throughout the un-incorporated areas of the county. The department also maintains county buildings and grounds and is responsible for the maintenance on all county vehicles. Building and Grounds, Maintenance Shop, and Roads and Bridges fall under the direction of the Public Works Department.

Landfill

The function of the Landfill Department is to provide Hampton County Citizens with a convenient means for collection and disposal of recyclable and solid waste and to ensure that it is done in accordance with law.

Building and Grounds

The Building and Grounds department maintains all county-owned facilities and grounds. The department also provides custodial services in a number of locations as well as electrical, carpentry, paint, and utility support.

Sanitation

The Sanitation Division of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the County Convenience Sites and ensuring that all solid waste generated in Hampton County is disposed of in accordance with State and Federal Laws. 

  • Landfill site hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Convenience centers operate Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. 
  • All Sanitation sites are closed for the holidays.

Fleet Management

The function of the shop is to maintain the county's fleet of vehicles, fire apparatus, motor graders, utility trucks, and a variety of other mechanical equipment.

Roads and Bridges department is responsible for maintenance on earth and paved roads, signage fabrication and installation, bridge maintenance, construction, and maintenance of storm drainage systems.
