Medical Services
At the center of medical services in Hampton County is the Hampton Regional Medical Center, our community's newest hospital, which opened in mid-2008. The new facility replaced the hospital built in 1950. The hospital provides extensive diagnostic capabilities using state of the art technology such as one of the first high-speed cardiac capable CT scanners in the state, the newest Toshiba MRI, a fully digital radiology department, a surgical department with the latest Steris equipment and a full service laboratory. Services also include a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient and outpatient surgery, physical therapy, cardiopulmonary services, nuclear medicine and stress testing. Our patients have access to spacious private inpatient rooms and an Intensive Care Unit. There are a number of physicians and specialists located in the community including family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, and emergency medicine.

Dental, chiropractic, and optometric services are available locally. Uni-health Post Acute Care of the Lowcountry, a long-term care facility is located in Estill. Coastal Empire Mental Health Service in Varnville provides mental health services.

The Hampton County Health Department offers a variety of services to residents of the county, including but not limited to immunizations, health screenings for adults and infants, family planning, home health services, and environmental sanitation. County birth and death records are kept on file in the Vital Records office.
