Department Functions

The function of the Recycling Department is to provide citizens with a convenient means for the disposal and collection of recyclables. There are ten (10) recycling centers located throughout the county.

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control has set the recycling goal of 35% for all counties and waste reduction goal of 3.5 pounds per person per day. To comply with that goal, Hampton County has established ten (10) drop off centers throughout the County. These centers provide citizens with a convenient means for the disposal and collection of solid waste. Citizens have the opportunity to get involved in waste reduction through the recycling program.

Goals

• To promote recycling in Hampton County

• Prepare and submit grant requests for waste tire and oil handling
