Department Functions

Probate Court does not have an attorney on staff.  This Court will not give legal advice.  Probate Court oversees the administration of decedent estates, minor children’s assets in excess of $10,000.00, and assets of incompetent adults.  Probate Court issues marriage license and performs marriage ceremonies.  Probate Court records of Decedent Estates are available from 1878 to current date.  Marriage records are available from 1911 to current date.  Probate Court issues pick up orders upon receipt of application from the Department of Mental Health or the New Life Center for drug and alcohol dependency.

Department Activities

  • This office will assist in preparing probate forms once information is given regarding a decedent.
  • Schedule and perform marriage ceremonies.
  • Schedule and hold hearings regarding competency.
  • Schedule and hold hearings regarding Judicial Commitments.
  • Schedule and hold hearings regarding approval of minor settlement(s), and wrongful death actions, contested wills, and all other circumstances regarding estates of decedents, minor children and incompetent adults.
