Department Functions

In Hampton County, the ROD office is housed in the Clerk of Court office. The Clerk of Court is responsible for recording all documents that concern land transactions. Some of these include Deeds or Titles, Mortgages, Satisfactions, Plats or Surveys, Agreements, Charters and Mergers. We also record state and federal tax liens and Mechanic’s liens. One of the largest responsibilities for the clerk of court is to determine if the document is in recordable form. We are responsible for collecting the proper fees for these documents and reporting all revenue on a monthly basis. The Clerk of Court also handles Passport Applications. We transmit the Applications along with appropriate fees to Miami Passport Agency.
