What is the age requirement for a marriage license?
The minimum age to apply for a marriage license is 16. 18 or older without parents consent.

What days are marriage applications taken in the Probate Court?
Tuesdays and Thursdays are walk-in appointments. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are by appointment only

Are appointments necessary for administrations of new estates?
Beginning November 18th, 2005 no new estates will be opened without a prior appointment being scheduled.

What documents are necessary for an appointment for a new estate?
Death certificate, last will and testament and a summary of assets.
5.
What documents are required at the time of applying for a marriage license?
Age 16-18, birth certificate, social security card, parent or legal guardian with photo I.D. to accompany applying couple. Ages 18-21, birth certificate and social security card are required. Ages 21-25, a Military I. D., picture I. D. and social security card are required. Above age 25, social security card only is required.
6.
Does a marriage license expire?
Marriage license do not expire. Once the license is picked up from the Probate Court, there is no time for it to be used. The Court does request once the marriage is performed, the copies titled "Probate Judge" and "Probate Judge/DHEC", be returned to the issuing Court within 15 days from date of the ceremony.
7.
How long does an administration of an estate of a decedent last?
No less than eight months.
